Gorgany Mountains South (Carpathians, Ukraine) 1:50,000 Hiking Map Gorgany is a mountain range in Western Ukraine in Outer Eastern Carpathians. The mountains are made of flysch rock, mostly sandstone, which create typical for Gorgany debris fields. Gorgany are the least populated part of the Ukrainian Carpathians; primary occupation of locals is herding and timber exploitation.This is a detailed, double-sided, contoured, GPS-compatible map covering the southern part of the Gorgany Mountains. It shows local hiking trails, annotated with tourist accommodation and other facilities.It is an authentic Ukrainian-made map and all names are shown in Cyrillic. Most villages and selected other features also have their names transliterated into Latin alphabet. Map legend is in Ukrainian and English.The map has contours at 20m intervals enhanced by graphics for rocky outcrops plus colouring indicating woodlands and bushy areas. Special protected areas as well as administrative borders are clearly marked. An overprint highlights both waymarked hiking routes and other recommended local trails. It includes the Carpathian Hiking Trail.Symbols show various kinds of accommodation including hotels, pensions, campsites and mountain bivouacs; restaurants, post offices, gas stations, medical services, etc. Also marked are various places of interest, ski lifts, viewpoints, etc. Road network indicates locations of petrol stations and bus stops; railways are shown with stations. Latitude and longitude lines are drawn at 2" intervals.
