What is there to say about a DVD collection that not only has some of the funniest sex education films ever put together – but also has Dick York well before he shot to television fame? While most of the A2ZCDS collections are interesting for their broad historical perspective, this one will easily become a camp hit at the college campus and club circuit. These days the government debates whether or not teens should be given abstinence-only sex education, or if they should be taught how to put on condoms. In these films the debate is whether or not to go "steady." It’s hard to believe that sexual attitudes have changed quite this much in only 50 years. You also get a look at just how conservative the 1950s were. In the Dick York clip, the hero is unsure how to become popular. He is told to imitate other students and act just like them. So the message is "conform" and to limit your own individuality. The viewer will not be sure whether he should laugh out loud or be very, very afraid.
