It is in close proximity of Myanmar (Burma) and the Lancang (Mekong) River. Large Leaf Varietal Yunnan is considered the birthplace of the Camellia Sinensis and home to the largest array (199 varietals) of tea plants in the world. It is famous for its large leaf ‘Da Ye’ varietal teas. The Art of Pan Firing Green tea making techniques vary across the different tea regions of China. However, the more popular process of pan firing tea leaves is practiced in Lincang. After plucking, the leaves are gently sun dried ‘withered’ to reduce moisture and then pan-fired in heated works. After firing, the leaves are gently rolled and re-fired. The process is repeated several times until the correct shape, aroma and residual moisture are achieved. Long Growing Season Green teas from southeastern China are typically available only in the spring. However, the growing season in Lincang is much longer than other green tea growing areas and can be made fresh throughout the year. Smooth Flavor Rich, nutty, sweet vegetal flavor and aroma that stays smooth, even with long steepings. The Tao of Tea Like the Tao, the art of tea is universal. We began our work with tea in 1997 to be a connecting thread for tea culture. Practicing the art on a daily basis in our teahouses in Portland, Oregon, we are a group of tea enthusiasts from different backgrounds and cultures. We travel, learn, take delight and seek to offer pure leaf teas with great flavor, artistry and soul. Our reward comes through actions that help people’s lives, sustain the art of tea and promise a healthy environment.
