Throughout the night, the whaler was pounded by waves and ice. By morning, the fast-moving storm had abated, leaving Baffin Bay cold but tranquil. Even more surprising than the dramatic changes in weather was the ghostly-looking derelict that suddenly appeared amongst the towering icebergs.
