TROPICA® - South Germany - Butterfly Meadow (14 Varieties) - 1000 Seeds - Summer-flowers Worth knowing: This wildflower mixture is sufficient for several window-boxes or plant tubs. Origin: Propagation: Seeds can be sown in a pot, tub, window-box or in the garden. The best sowing time is from mid-March until the end of June. In years during which nice autumn temperatures can be exptected, sowing is also still possible from August until mid-September. Sprinkle the seed mixture on the soil and press the seeds into the soil surface (best is with a small board). When sown in the garden, you will need approx. 1,5 g (about 1 tea spoon) per square metre. Keep the soil evenly moist, however, not wet. Most of the time, the first seedlings appear after 3-12 weeks (depending on the time of sowing). The development of the wild flowers in general stretches over the whole vegetation period. Care: Wildflowers do develop best in poor ground, so that "standard" fertilization will rather have an opposite effect. Therefore, fertilize only moderately. This will guarantee an early and rich flowering of the robust and undemanding plants. Wilted flowers should be removed early so that late flowers will also develop strongly later on. When sown in the garden, it is recommended to carry out first cuttings in July/beginning of August from the second year on (wait until after the main flowering period). In the event of heavy growth a second mowing shortly before the first frost is advisable. Important: Leave the flowers to dry on after the first cut so that the seeds can fall out. Carefully remove the plant material afterwards. By the way, self-harvested seeds can be dried, be stored in a dark location and be sown again the following year. Winter period: Wilted and dried wildflowers can be cut in autumn (or after the first frost).
