Skits For The Ears is Franck VAILLANT BENZINE"s fourth album. After a first record in the electronica trend released on Signature Radio-France, completed by a second live performance recording featuring a top-notch quartet released on Yolk label, followed a Franco-Corean adventure on the Melisse label in which traditional Pansori singing and the percussion of Samuel NORI where blended into contemporary jazz. This new album is built as a succession of musical skits in a multitude of styles and colors. "Skits for the Ears" is the result of the close co-operation between Franck VAILLANT (Limitless drummer and composer) and Philippe TEISSIER Du CROS (Sound-engineer and outclassed producer). All tracks were first composed and programmed during a journey through many Caribbean islands. The next stage was to have musicians improvise over the tracks, these were Kamilya JUBRAN, Airelle BESSON, MAGIC MALIK, Olivier PY, Sylvain CATHALA, Cyril ATEF and Guo GAN. The recordings were then re-organised, edited and re-composed. The result consists in 15 very diverse tracks, with a unique and uncompromising texture that sweeps you off on a journey. The music is led by a thorough research on field depth, on the arrangement of layers, on rhythmic and theatrical illusions and on the complex layout of textures, all of which are served by the great sonic quality. This conspicuously experimental and abstract work will lead you on a sentimental sci-fi journey to be rediscovered every time.
