Based on John Van Drulen"s play I Am A Camera, turned into a book by Joe Masteroff and with music and lyrics from John Kander and Fred Ebb, Cabaret is set in 1930s Berlin as the Nazi"s rise to power. The main story in the musical revolves around English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with American writer Cliff Bradshaw, but there is a sub plot involving German boarding house owner Fraulein Schneider and her elderly Jewish suitor Herr Schultz.
