No cutting garden should be without Reseda odorata machet, or also known as Mignonette Machet. It is known for its sweet fragrance that is long-lasting even once the flowers have been cut and placed into a vase. The white spikes are fringed with red and also dry well and stay fragrant for use in dried arrangements. Grow Mignonette in full sun to partial shade and in well-draining soil with a neutral to alkaline pH. Mignonette also makes a nice container plant, and it benefits from deadheading to encourage continuous blooming from summer through fall. For best results, start the seed directly outdoors once danger of frost has passed. Press the seed into the soil, with 1/8 inch of soil and keep it moist. With a temperature of 70F, germination is usually within 14 days.
