Reg Smith adopted the name Reg Patterson for his first attempt at success and landed a regular slot at the Condor Club in London. There in 1957 he was spotted by Larry Parnes, who suggested a further name change to Marty Wilde and signed to Philips. Over the next two years he established himself as one of the UK s leading Rock & Roll singers, thanks to hits with cover versions of Donna and A Teenager In Love. Bizarrely, despite countless hits on the singles chart, none of his albums managed to register until a retrospective in 2007!
