A proud Native American woman, nicknamed "Spirit Woman" for her courage in defending her people in battle, is unable to stop the massacre of her village by the war-hungry Blackfeet Indians. And when she is captured a second time, by the feared and hated "Long Knives", she fears her life is over. But she soon discovers that Jim Ayers is not like the other white men.
