The word "childish" often carries a negative connotation, but here, it should be taken as a whole-hearted compliment. Little Teeth"s music is childish to the core; it is unrestrained, fun, and over-the-top-never-stop-for-a-breath energetic. Child Bearing Man sounds like it could easily act as a stand in for the "Where The Wild Things Are" soundtrack due to the combination of playfulness and emotional resonance. To say that this album is childish, however, doesn"t preclude it from being mature as well. With looping vocal melodies, off-key guitar noodling, and click-clacking, tribal percussion Child Bearing Man brings Animal Collective"s "Feels" to mind, but creates its own entirely original sound, never sounding like any other album or artist for more than a fleeting moment of recognition before exploding off on a fascinating, new tangent.
