Prince Aleksandr Grigor"evich Shcherbatov (1850-1915), an economist, social scientist and political activist, was the leader of the influential political party of monarchical orientation Soiuz Russkikh Liudei (Union of Russian People). His main work Renewed Russia (1908) includes his political platform on all major issues of Russian development: statehood, role of the Russian Orthodox Church, local government, civil self-government, social security, industries, agriculture, and trade, defense and transportation, public opinion, etc. The volume also contains several of his other works as well as his economic articles and current writings of 1890-1909.
