The completion of this dissertation is not only fulfillment of my dreams but also of my parents who have sacrificed a lot for me in completion of this course. The writing of a dissertation is obviously not possible without the support and company of numerous people. It is a pleasant aspect that I have now the opportunity to express my gratitude for all of them. Izterabe Nafsani Umoomi (GAD) is commonest condition among the anxiety disorders, characterized by exaggerated and uncontrollable worry or tension about every day events. It carries psychosocial disability, high socio-economic cost and poor quality of life throughout the world. The global prevalence is estimated 4-7% in general population. Despite the advancement in psycho and pharmacotherapy, the figure in terms of remission of disease, withdrawal symptoms and adverse side effects grossly suggest the limitation in its management. Unani physicians are successfully treating psychosomatic symptoms of psychiatric disorders with single and compound drug since ancient times, but scientific data are not available on such treatments and its efficacy.
