This monograph, in two books, studies one of the brightest phenomena of the pre-Petrine epoch - celebratory court poetry of the end of 17th century. This work is based on manuscripts from the Russian archives. It shows the birth and development of the syllabic and rhythmic prosody and of the new genre in Russian poetry, the ode, which expresses the expectations on the eve of the Petrine transformation of Russia.
