Square Head Bolts offer a large bearing area for positive gripping with an open or adjustable wrench. Length is measured from under the head. Head width or wrench size is measured across the flats. Plain finish, or bare metal, may or may not have a coating of light oil to resist corrosion. Grade 8 has a greater tensile strength than Grade 5.
