Like with any design, when designing the perfect sandwich box, we thought about how we could make it better than the current food containers. As a given, the box had to protect the sandwich from being squashed, but what else could we add. From a personal stand, I love tomatoes in sandwiches, but only when the sandwich is freshly made and not when the tomato has made the bread soggy. This formed the inspiration of including the chopping board with the box. It meat that people could even chop things like tomatoes or cucumbers on the board and include them in their sandwiches, just before they eat them. The board also meant that people preparing their sandwiches, did not have to use a separate board...just one less thing to wash up in the morning. With the bread sitting on the bamboo board, it also meant the bread could breath and didn"t get that sweaty squashed feel that you get with clingfilm or some waxy food containers.
