This book analyzes the legislation on status of deputy in various subjects of the Russian Federation, practice of its realization, problems of further improvement of the legal status of deputies of legislative bodies. The author examines and defines the concepts of people"s representation, representative democracy, deals with correlation of the enumerated state legal categories. Considerable attention is paid to characteristics of the political legal nature of the mandate of a deputy, the role of the deputy in the system of people"s representation and in civil society of the subjects of the RF. The book examines in detail the rights and duties of a deputy, analyses the guarantees of their activity, suggests ways of improving republican legislation concerning the given circles of issues.
