The Final Destination is a work of fiction—a fantasy that is meant to invite the reader to consider what traditional Catholic theology distinguishes as the Four Last Things—death, judgment, Heaven and Hell. It invites the reader to disregard any superficial or shallow notions about human life that are popularized through the media and secular society. The characters and events in the story lead the reader to view the enterprise of human life through the lens of supernatural faith. Moreover, the characters in the story show how God’s plan for humanity is really a path to love, truth, beauty and happiness. When all is said and done, the story reminds us that our destiny is eternal life with God.
