Water is one of the essential elements for the development and is more conspicuous due to it"s periodic scarcity. Man depends on water for his basic needs of domestic, agricultural and industrial uses. In recent years, the density of population has since considerably increased which laid emphasis on the ground water resources. This has resulted in increasing concern for exploration, exploitation, development and management of available ground water resources. Even in the present age, despite significant achievements in the fields of science and technology, the adequate and assured water supply still remains the basic problem of mankind at certain areas due to adverse effects of climatic conditions. Pullampet, Kadapa dt, the drought prone district of Rayalaseema, where the people have to depend on groundwater for all purposes, specially for agriculture which is their main occupation. The present investigation is considered in the view of the above, detailed hydrogeological studies of a mandal as a unit is undertaken by the author. This book is prepared to meet the requirements of farmers in avoiding the wrong locations of wells and adverse affects of their economy.
