Caregivers for Alzheimer"s loved ones are legion, yet society is largely unaware of them. The world is consumed with more worthwhile tragedies. These caregivers are lonely and often deserted by families and friends. They have no one to talk with, no one who understands, and no one to help carry their burden. I know. I was one of them. I did not have a shoulder to cry on or arms to enfold me. No words of comfort and encouragement were heard. There was only anguish, pain and the daily struggle to cope. Eventually, there was hope and peace.
