It"s All in the Way You Think

Event Evaluation Therapy is a method of dealing with thoughts, emotions and action (T.E.A.) in a realistic, logical manner. Events (things that happen) do not cause emotions nor actions (behavior). Rather, it is how you evaluate (think about) events that causes emotions and actions. The method of dealing with T.E.A. is the “E” formula: E1 (Event), E2 (Evaluation), and E3 (Emotion). Quite simply, E1 does not cause E3 (i.e., events do not cause emotions). E2 causes E3 (i.e. evaluation causes emotions). It is the opposite of “behavior modification.” You cannot change your emotions or your behavior without first changing the way you think.
