The War Affair is the story of a young USAAF bomber pilot, David Chandler, who falls in love with an English girl, Sally Rainey. When his aircraft is shot down during a raid on Germany, he becomes a prisoner of war. Sally tells her husband she has fallen in love with an American pilot, and asks for a divorce. In POW camp, David receives a very formal letter from her and mistakenly believes she is happily reunited with her husband. The story resumes thirty years later with the former bomber pilot in the advertising business in New York.
