This is the second volume, book 1, of the series Century of the Enlightenment. The series studies the history of the culture of eighteenth century Russia. It unites works of Russian and foreign historians in a wide area of spiritual culture: publishing, science, theatrical and visual arts. Some of the articles deal with the history of famous books, paintings, and documentary collections or publish unknown materials.
