History of the Civil War in America Vol II

Volume Two includes the Peninsula Campaign in which the author and his brother served and survived in combat. They served under Major General George B. McClellan in the Battle of Gaines"s Mill on June 27, 1862. Volume Two starts with Stonewall Jackson regrouping and covers the Battle of Antietam, major battles in Northern Virginia, the sea battles and control of the Mississippi River and ends with the Emancipation Proclamation of January 1, 1863. The author was an officer under General George B. McClellan. He made it to America where he and his brother served as officers in the Union Army in some of the most horrific battles in the American Civil War, including the Peninsula Campaign in South Eastern Virginia where they were lucky to survive.
