Formed back in 1999 in Haapajarvi, Finland, as a melodic death/power metal band with neo-classical vibrations, Requiem released 3 demo-tapes which were very well-received in the Finnish underground Scene, to the Point that the band Soon earned a record contract with Sound Riot Records. Time passed by, many shows were played, some line-up changes occurred and the band soon developed into a more progressive act with the addition of the new singer Jouni Nikur a. 2001 was a very important year for the band: finally a solid line-up was found and the guys recorded their first official release ("The Arrival") at Watercastle Studios in Jyvaskyla and mastered it at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki. The record was released the following year. Another release followed in 2003 ("Mask Of Damnation") but a turning-point was made with the new signing to Scarlet Records and the recording sessions for "Requien Forever", onsidered by the band itself as their best record up to date! .scarlet.2006
