This anthology includes the finest poetry of the American Physicians" Poetry Association. Founded in 1976 by Dr. Richard Lippin, M.D., this dedicated group of physician-poets has striven to "span the seemingly diverse realms of science and art, medicine and literature, mind and body." The annual journal of the APPA serves as a forum and a source of inspiration for physicians and patients alike as it explores the issues of humanity and ethics involved in the healing arts. Clearly visible in these poems are themes and sensibilities common to physician-writers throughout history: a reverence for the human body, a sense of wonder toward the human spirit, and an appreciation for the universality of human emotions.
