Formed from the ashes of cult alt-country band Absentee in 2008, Wet Paint s well-received debut album It Rots seemed to single-handedly get east London listening to its old Sonic Youth, Pavement and Husker Du records all over again. In true indie-rock style, the album was followed by a split 7. They toured with friends Bloc Party and The Rumble Strips. Woe was recorded at the band"s rehearsal home The Premises in East London with Ash Workman (Metronomy, Eugene McGuiness). Lyrically the album deals with themes of age and powerlessness in the face of change. Opening track Gone So Long is a nostalgic ode to the days when people bought records on a punt and a little small town word of mouth about import prices.
