A unique collection of 100 readings, which illustrate major themes in the development of antebellum Tennessee, have been organized chronologically and thematically. His introductions set the readings in context and offer questions for use as focal points for discussion and research. Many of the sources in this compilation are no longer accessible to the student or general reader, so it is a desirable reference volume for any library.
