When I moved to New York in 1994, I was particularly interested in jazz. I developed a passion for Latin American music traditions which clearly mark the New York scene. The typical combination of three violins, flute, piano, rhythm section and vocals illustrates the importance of the violin in this type of music. Playing and composing music on the Latin American music scene in New York fits so well with my musical credo that I sometimes get the feeling that it is linked to my own musical roots: East European folk and gypsy music.
