A historical novel about the forced migration of the Navajos from their homeland in Arizona to Fort Summer, New Mexico in the mid-1800s. The story is told through the experiences of 14-year-old Bright Morning and her friend Running Bird, who are captured from Canyon de Chelly by Spanish slavers.
