Reminiscent of the botanicals of the 18th century, the Orchids 2008 wall calendar features artfully rendered images of exotic orchid blossoms. Artist/photographer Linda Broadfoot utilizes the Polaroid transfer process to create these photographs, resulting in a handmade beauty evocative of vintage natural history illustrations. Ms. Broadfoot has exhibited widely and her work can be found in collections including the George Eastman House, the Audubon Institute, and the Polaroid Collection. She has recently published a limited edition handmade artist"s book, "INSECTA," featuring amazing photographic illustrations of exotic insects accompanied by the letterpress printed tale "Things Are Not What They Seem" by A.S. Byatt. She says of her art, "It is my hope that, beyond its descriptive or decorative character, this work possesses the honest simplicity and clarity to reveal nature"s creation of its own art."
