Now there is an effective new way to bring the Olympics—their history, global impact, and political and economic ramifications—to the classroom. History Connections: The Olympics makes it easy for both experienced and new teachers to integrate this summer"s Games into their curriculums and to help spark students" excitement about learning.The Olympics offers separate sections for Ancient World History, Modern World History, American History, and Economics, making it a useful resource for the entire social studies department. Each section brings together approximately 20 activities and lessons, a comprehensive section-wide lesson, and a variety of supporting primary and secondary sources. The organization reflects the flow of a class session, ranging from warm-up activities and class assignments to project-based activities, homework, and independent research. Students will draw connections between a high-interest current event and its historic roots.
