Despite the presence of a number of vocal luminaries, the real star here is conductor Pierre Derveux. He favors brisk tempi, clear string articulation and harpsichord continuo, making for an exciting performance worthy to stand up to the best studio recordings. The sound is excellent for a 50 year old recording. The only negative is he face that some of the French soloists do struggle with the English text.
