Line & Circle"s debut 7-inch single Roman Ruins/Carelessness is the result of the musical maturity that developed throughout the years spent recording around LA and performing in its signature venues like the Echo and the Troubadour. Eventually, the five musicians hit upon what they believe is Line & Circle"s true aesthetic melodically-driven rock compositions. While both tracks, "Roman Ruins" and "Carelessness," reveal the band"s propulsive, introspective indie rock sensibility, each showcases a different lyrical side as well. "Roman Ruins," a soaring number with subtle pop tendencies, is about the potential darkness of intimacy. "There s a nostalgic quality to the song alongside an apprehension in looking forward," keyboardist Brian Egan notes. On the other side "Carelessness" is, as guitarist Brian Cohen says, "much less of a self-conscious song," led by glittering guitar lines and pensive choruses.
