With the lead vocals of three fighter pilots and one bomber pilot, accompanied by the rousing voices of a host of backup singers, it"s easy to transport oneself to the stag bars and raucous campaign party tents and hooches of yesteryear. This was the way we blew out the tension, fear, and excess adrenalin generated by the heat of battle. This is how we let off the steam. Here are the heart-rending tributes to fallen comrades, the flag-waving devotion to home and country, the belligerent musical challenges to the enemy, and the explicit yearning for the comfort of the opposite sex. The rowdy songs were the first steps we took along the road from the battlefield"s devastation back to the rehabilitation of ourselves as members of the human race.
