TROPICA® - African Wisteria Tree (Bolusanthus speciosus) - 15 Seeds Worth knowing: Growing up to heights of 2 to 4 metres, this little deciduous tree with its upright, delicate growth is one of the most beautiful and eye-catching flowering trees in the grassy steppe of sub-Tropical South Africa. It is long-lasting and the genus covers just this species. In its native country, the African tree wisteria is famous for its beautiful, wisteria-like flowers. The dark violet butterfly-flowers appear in spring in large drooping panicles. The bright green leaves develop later. Within our regions, this plant rarity can be cultivated in tubs. Origin: Indigenous to South Africa. Propagation: The seeds can be started indoors throughout the year. Leave them to soak in water at room temperature overnight, press them about 0,5 to 1 cm deep into moist cultivation soil. Leave a distance of about 5 cm in between the seeds. Keep the cultivation substratum evenly moist (not wet) until germination, which will take place after 1 to 5 weeks and move the container in a warm location. Place / Light: The African wisteria tree thrives best in full sun. As a young plant, however, it requires a partially shaded location. Care: Regular standard soil mixed with some coarse sand should suffice as a planting substratum for a tub cultivation. The warmer the location, the better the plant will thrive. Spray the leaves occassionally. Water on a regular basis, do, however, avoid waterlogging. Provide the African wisteria tree with tub plant fertilizer every 3 weeks. Winter period: As a young tree, the African wisteria tree should be protected from cold. Older trees will survive light frosts. After leaf shedding, a dry place during winter is ideal. Water only little now. Bonsai Suitability: Yes
