Sexualized violence has accompanied human civilization — in different scales — in absolutely every culture. This volume traces the varied forms of this phenomenon in our modernity, especially its depiction in pop culture — erotized violence as visual entertainment. The images of violence on which this book dwells are also related to porn, that side-culture of transgression that defines itself through and against censorship. That’s the other subject of this book, media and mainstream discourse have acquired characteristics from porn: what happens when porn — prohibited genre par excellence — becomes a mass obsession, when porn icons become easily accessible and imbue popular imagination in unpredictable and bizarre ways.
