Very good book that debunked the 1980"s myth of near full employment/ lifetime employment. This shows how, yes if you work for one of the central companies you"re protected, but that those central juggernauts rely a whole slew on peripheral small companies which bore the brunt of market shifts. Of course today no one talks about lifetime employment anymore, but when this book first came out it was game changer for how American business studies people looked at Japan.
