These papers, orignally pressented at the EAA, present new archaeological work on Roman-era Central and Eastern Europe. They cover the central provinces of the empire itself, but focus in the main on relations with barbarians within the empire and on its frontiers, as well as between Rome and the lands beyond the empire. Topics include such perrenials as trade, cultural interaction and Romanization, as well as ethnicity and national identity.
