G.O.D.

Welcome to the Pearly Gates Assessment Centre. Lawrence - an African Lion, and Ben - a Scottish Human, are dead. On arrival in Limbo, Peter, chairman of G.O.D., explains that they, like all souls, have been reincarnated several times within a 300-year overall lifespan. Lawrence and Ben have unfortunately expended their quota of lives despite not remembering any of them, so Final Judgement leads to one being sent to Heaven and the other to Hell. As both struggle to settle in their new environments and begin to question their unexpected circumstances and the authority of G.O.D., it becomes clear that neither have truly reached their final resting place. G.O.D. is a philosophical science-fantasy novel exploring humanity, religion, politics, identity and evolution; masquerading as a humorous modern fable about a megalomaniac, a hapless romantic and a shape-shifting lion. It is the debut novel from Shelley Irving.
