This is a new biography of one of the known leaders of the international socialist revolutionary movement Christian Rakovskii (1873-1941), a Bolshevik politician and Soviet diplomat; he was also noted as a journalist, physician, and essayist. Rakovskii was the chairman of the government of the Ukrainian Republic in the USSR. He opposed Stalin"s policy of unification and his authoritarian style, and was a adherent of the Europeanization of the USSR. He paid for his opposition with his life.
