Dream Town
Far off in the bottom-left corner of America, there is a magnificent city full of wonder, with soaring castles and space stations and giant donuts. It is a place where it never snows, where the temperature is always mild, and where there are stars everywhere you look. Welcome to Dream Town. As a young boy puts on his boots and mittens to go play outside, his grandma tells him about the city she grew up in. Though there was no snow, life was far from boring… Michelle Markel brings a city’s quirky architecture to life with simple, sneaky prose, and Rick Reese’s warm colored-pencil drawings plunge you into the fantastic, bustling city as the boy imagines it. There is even an section in the back with photos of the actual, real-life buildings found in Dream Town…you can go there yourself! Dream Town’s other name? Why, Los Angeles of course.
