New ceramic materials are being exposed to more hostile environments than past materials, so conventional joining techniques aren"t effective. The 19 papers in this book address the fundamental areas and critical issues in ceramic joining: joining techniques, joint failure, residual stress, and characterization and testing. Understanding these fundamentals is key for developing new techniques to use new ceramic materials.
