The cirKus story began when singer Burt Ford met KARMIL, a classical guitarist, turntablist and beat maker working from his bedroom studio in London s Camden Town. Ford immediately fell for the musical tapestry that KARMIL wove in a seemingly never-ending stream of beats and sound. As for KARMIL, he was gripped when he heard Ford s unusual singing voice on the Virgin Souls album, 162. Before long, they were joined by Lolita Moon (a teenager whose crystal-clear voice perfectly complemented Ford s gravelly tones) & Neneh Cherry. Their music has been released terrestrially worldwide and exposed heavily on the Internet. There it found its home with fans of Radiohead, Anthony & the Johnsons and Burial among others. The last year saw cirKus share the stage with Air, Abd Al Malik, Cat Power, Spank Rock and Hot Chip. The stage shows have been universally accepted as something truly out of the ordinary and have taken them to pretty much every corner of the globe.
