Victor Willing: A Retrospective Exhibition, 1957-85 [exhibition: 6 June - 20 July, 1986]
Victor Willing first came to prominence in 1955 on leaving the Slade School of Art. His mature work, based on the operations of the subconscious and with reference to writers and theorists such as Nietzsche, Sartre, and Tristan Tzara, was both responsive to and influential on the contemporary art scene. Published in close collaboration with Victor"s widow, the artist Paula Rego, and with access to Willing"s archives, the book offers a full record and evaluation of the work of this artist.
