We are already in a second nuclear age of armaments in which the weaponization of space has become a preoccupation of various national governments. This is in addition to the unabated nuclear arms race between a number of "secondary" powers and the nuclear arms programs of others like North Korea and Iran. Based on a recent U.N. sponsored conference on the non-proliferation of arms, Douglas Roche shows how the world has become more dangerous and more equitable through nuclear arms. This book presents a compelling case for a continued struggle to eliminate nuclear weapons. Roche explains how political, and especially religious and other civic leaders can work for a nuclear weapon-free world. This issue is all the more poignant as the world commemorates the 60th anniversary of the bombing of Hiroshima in August 1945.
