Creamer Jug, Ocean Design - height ca. 8cm, diameter ca. 8cm Paul Maloney Pottery is produced using traditional hand methods. Paul studied Art & Design Education in the National College of Art & Design and graduated as an Art Teacher. The lure of pottery proved irresistible and Paul set up his own pottery studio in Wexford, where he continues to create beautiful, functional tableware and giftware. Paul"s pottery has modern, fluid lines and Paul says "walking on the many beaches in Wexford and watching the changing coastline, has a continuing influence on my work". All pieces are hand thrown on the potter"s wheel, followed by a series of hand finishing techniques, then glazed and fired to 1100c. Design and Shape constantly evolve through the years to reflect Paul"s thoughts on Form and Function. Craft Pottery, like Art is an ever changing practice, as designs and ideas are not set by the boundaries of a mould or machine. The term "unique" has become cliched, but here it is true - every piece is indeed, one of its kind.
