Not With Me...!

During a spectacular sunset on the Thai island of Phuket, a journalist and author accidentally discovers an old, shabby file folder on a cabinet of the sala in the house of his American friend, Lothar Mork. The stack of wilted papers is titled "My Escape." It is the authentic story of Lothar Mork trying to escape from East Germany twice. The story was originally written in the United States over twenty years ago and rediscovered in Thailand in September 2008. This manuscript was used as a baseline for the book to be rewritten. Based on many discussions, evaluations, and input from others, a new book was created. In conjunction with interviews (looking back in anger), fact-finding missions (facts), written as looked upon by a third party (other people), and referenced forward in time (x many years in the West), Mork believes they have created a remarkable book in the form of a docu-fiction. This book, Not with me...!, was created to help remember the Cold War between the East and the West, the totalitarian regime in the East, and far and foremost the deadly border installations, built to deprive seventeen million people of their basic freedoms and human rights. In the fall of 1989, the Berlin Wall finally came down, and the communist regime collapsed under public pressure and demonstrations by millions. The Wall, however, has never really been eradicated from the minds of many young and old people in the East and the West alike. To the contrary, the Wall is getting resurrected through ignorance and denial on the part of many individuals. This book is trying to prevent that from happening.
