It seems that to much of the classical world, improvisation is a lost art. Once a common skill, musicians are now rarely seen without a score. In her second recording for EMI Classics, Gabriela Montero has returned to this tradition, and presents "Bach & Beyond". Others may have used Bach"s music as a starting point for improvisation - take Keith Jarrett or Jacques Loussier - but Gabriela"s style is different. She uses all of her musical influences to take us on a journey through music. She begins with Bach, travels through Debussy, Chopin, Jazz, and even to the folk music of her own country, Venezuela.
