Mario Bunge, Author of the Monumental Treatise on Basic Philosophy, is widely appreciated as a philosopher of science. In this new and ambitious treatise he shifts his attention to the social sciences and the social technologies. He considers these disciplines one by one from anthropology to political science, from law to management science.Bunge contends that far too many students have fallen prey to either of two radical schools, neither of which cares for reality checks: postmodern irrationalism and rational choice speculation. Consequently, he urges social scientists to re-examine the philosophy and the methodology inherent in their work.
